What Works!

Solutions to problems in countries world-wide, which have been already applied successfully by NGOs. Note they are almost always in partnership with the United Nations, governments and or other civil society partners. NGOs have been operating in partnerships since the beginning of their organizations, over fifty years in some cases.

One outstanding example of a combination of partnerships addressing a real world problem of designing and building an environmentally sensitive community within a city..Stockholm, Sweden. Unique about this is that they are doing it to surpass RIO specifications. They are not waiting for the governments or the United Nations to agree at any RIO+5 meeting of commitments. They are just doing it! Their plans and efforts are captured in a 2 hour video tape recording during the Special Session of the General Assembly on RIO+5 in New York city in June 1997. That recording was volunteered to the NGO Resource Center by Richard Jordon. Contact the NGO Resource Center to borrow a copy of the tape.
If you have good examples of NGO activities which have been effective and could be applied to other countries please submit them for listing and or linking to your websites. Contact the administrator.
