My friend Ilir, a Kosovo Albanian, just sent me this message and asked me to share it with as many people as possible. It is the least I can do.

(Kosova, Europe, 19 March 1999)
International observers, or OSCE verification mission, are leaving tomorrow morning.
This is the second time I whitness internationals leaving my country.
The first time was back in the beginning of 90`s when CSCE, it was a council back then not an organisation, after making tons of promises - just left - they didn`t even bother to say goodbye. I remember talking to them, when they wanted us to be patient, tolerant etc.etc. which was exactly the same thing we were saying to them - yes, we want peace and negociations - they just smiled and left. A lot of us risked our necks at that time and some of my friends got into a lot of trouble just for talking to CSCE.
After that 9 long years of destruction, ignorance and blindness, 9 years during which kosovar albanians swollowed their pride, their dignity, humiliation... untill it was enough...
Now, internationals are leaving again - evacuation because of possible NATO air strikes !?!?!?!
I hope so, let`s see what happens. Untill now serbian forces had to face only KLA, but not even them - they have targeted unarmed civillians, they are after albanian TV sets, cassette decks and burning their houses - we all whitnessed that two days ago on CNN (CNN International News - NOT shown in the USA) - no comment was needed on that one, everything is loud and clear...
We people here will face very difficult days - but we are all saying, in one voice -
THIS HAS GOT TO STOP !!! RIGHT NOW, we did what was asked from us, our delegation signed peace agreement in France, we left the independence issue aside, but now this has to stop. The 2000 number of killed is long time ago crossed, every single day innocent civillians are dying.
Today, on local news - albanian mother lost both of their children - they died from hunger and freezing temperatures - because they were forced out of their house, in the woods, in the middle of winter -
THIS IS EUROPE FOR GOD`s SAKE, THIS IS 1999,THIS HAS GOT TO STOP NOW,
RIGHT NOW...
